Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is his first trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after March of that year.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

He saved four initial break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
